I have often wondered why the govt cares what religion we follow. I have the freedom to follow any religion as I please. Also equally confusing question is when can I call myself to be a member of any particular religion. Is it when I have registered with the govt that I have converted? Or is it when I start following the rituals in that religion? Or when I start believing in their God?? I am a Hindu by birth. But what if I believe in the teachings of Buddha and the Christ? Am I a buddhist and a christian as well??
What about the communists..?? They are atheists. Right? If that is so, then what do the govt record say? Does the govt has a category called Atheist that I can register myself if I dont believe in any religions? Then what if I believe in more than one religion. What if dont see a conflict between the beliefs of multiple religions? What if I see the unity that is present in all the religions? What then should I do? What category will I belong to according to the govt records??
I believe the govt should just let reglion out of its business and treat all ppl equally. I dont understand why does it matter to the govt what my route to God is. Every man has a religion of his own. It may be shared with others. But still it is atleast a little different from the next person's beliefs. The govt cannot keep count of the religions. So its better to leave the God seeking business to the individual himself..
